Event photo sharing, by event type

The same QR code and the same upload page, but the reason you need them is different at a wedding than at a company offsite. Pick the one closest to yours.

What actually changes between them

Less than you might expect. It is the same upload page and the same QR code in all four cases, and every feature is available whichever you pick. What differs is the way these events fail when you leave them to chance, and therefore which two or three settings are worth ten minutes before the day.

EventWhat usually goes wrongWorth turning on
WeddingsGuests shoot far more of the day than the photographer can, from angles nobody was paid to cover, and almost none of it reaches you.A printed card on every table, plus the live slideshow. Guests watching the screen scan the code, so the album recruits its own contributors.
BirthdaysThe photos scatter across several group chats and arrive compressed, so what you keep is a quarter of the resolution somebody actually shot. One code by the food or the cake. Birthdays rarely need approval queues or sub-albums, and setting them up is time you will not get back.
Family gatheringsThe relatives holding the photos you most want are the ones least likely to post them anywhere you can reach. The audio guestbook. Family members who will never type a message will happily record one, and that is the file you will still be playing in ten years.
Company eventsNothing technical. It fails on approval: somebody has to see a photo before the company does, and most tools have nowhere to put that step.Upload approval, so contributions wait until you release them. Guests are never shown a pending notice, so from their side the upload simply worked.

What is the same, whichever one you pick

Guests scan the code, it opens a web page, they pick files and press upload. There is no app to install and no account to create, which is what gets the less confident half of your guest list through it.

  • Files arrive exactly as they left the phone, so a download is the original rather than a resized copy.
  • No limit on photos, videos or guests, and you are never charged per guest or per upload.
  • Uploads resume rather than restart when venue WiFi drops halfway through a file.
  • It stays free until you download, and the upload window runs from your event date, not your purchase date.

Questions people ask before choosing

Is the product different for each type of event?
No. It is one product with one upload page, and every feature is available on every tier. What changes is which settings are worth your time: a company event usually wants upload approval on, and a birthday usually wants nothing configured at all. The pages differ because the setup advice differs, not because the software does.
My event is not one of these four. Does it still work?
Yes. Anything where people bring phones and you want the photos afterwards works the same way, including christenings, retirements, reunions and club nights. Read whichever of the four is closest in size and formality, because that is what decides your setup rather than the name of the occasion.
How far ahead should I set the event up?
As early as you like. The upload window and the storage period both run from your event date rather than the day you pay, so setting it up months ahead costs you nothing and gets the printed cards ordered while there is still time.
Can one event have more than one QR code?
The code is the same for the whole event, so you can print it as many times as you want and put it on every table, the bar and the guestbook. If you want photos separated once they arrive, use sub-albums rather than separate codes.
