Cookies
We use a small number of cookies, all of them strictly necessary to operate the service. We run no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies, which is why you are not being asked to accept anything.
What we set
- Session cookie: keeps a host signed in. Set only after signing in; cleared on sign out.
- Guest cookie: a random identifier that lets a guest delete their own uploads and attaches their chosen name to their photos. Set on an event page; expires after a year.
- Sidebar state: remembers whether the host's navigation is open. A preference, nothing more.
Why there is no banner
EU law requires consent for cookies that are not strictly necessary for a service the user asked for. Every cookie above is necessary for exactly that, so there is nothing to consent to and no banner to dismiss.
We do count visits to our public pages, using Plausible, which is hosted in the EU. It sets no cookie, stores nothing in your browser, and keeps no identifier that could follow you to another site, so there is still nothing to consent to. It does not run on event pages at all: the address of an album is what grants access to it, and that address is never sent anywhere.
If we ever add advertising, or analytics that need a cookie, this page will change first and you will be asked before anything is set.
Turning them off
Your browser can block or delete any cookie. Blocking the session cookie means you cannot stay signed in; blocking the guest cookie means you can still upload, but you will not be able to delete your own uploads afterwards.
